Your Team

Meet the Quality & Safety Team

The leadership of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center — specialists in plastic and reconstructive surgery, surgical planning, skin and laser care, and dermatology — practicing within Chongqing West District Hospital, a tertiary general hospital. Each of them holds hospital privileges for the procedures they perform here.

Specialist Profiles

The four leads accountable for safety in this centre

The Center Director is profiled in full below, including the academic roles and achievements held. The three deputy directors are listed with their role and clinical focus.

Shaoliang Wang, MD

Shaoliang Wang, MD (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Plastic surgery · revision · complex repair

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. He previously served as deputy chief of plastic and aesthetic surgery at Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, and brings more than two decades of tertiary-hospital surgical experience to his practice. He is the medical reviewer for the safety guidance published on this site.

Within this centre he is the surgical backstop and the judgement of last resort: revision of failed operations that began anywhere, excision of skin tumours, complex wound repair, and the decision that a plan should not proceed. That last decision is part of a safety system rather than a failure of one, and it is the reason the review process described on this site is run by the department rather than by the individual proposing the operation.

Clinical focus

  • Surgical removal of skin tumors with margin control and layered cosmetic closure
  • Excision and repair of moles, cysts, and other superficial lesions
  • Scar revision and comprehensive scar management after burns and trauma
  • Repair of failed aesthetic operations from elsewhere (revision and reconstruction)
  • Complex wound repair and tertiary-hospital surgical support for dermatologic cases

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Craniofacial Surgery Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Deputy Chair, Chongqing Medical Aesthetics & Beauty Committee
  • Standing Committee Member, Chongqing Medical Doctor Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Expert Panel, Chongqing Aesthetic Surgery Quality Control Center
  • Developed a new endoscope- and water-jet-assisted technique for removing injected polyacrylamide (Aomingding) breast filler; awarded the Wang Liangneng Cup Military Excellent Scientific Paper Award
  • Principal investigator on an international cooperation sub-project, a Chongqing Natural Science Foundation grant, and a Third Military Medical University technology-transfer project; published 4 SCI papers and holds 8 national invention patents

A hospital-based advantage

When a treatment from elsewhere needs correction, or a complication needs theatre-level care, the operating room, anaesthesiology and intensive care are already in the same building. Practicing inside a tertiary general hospital means that backstop is real rather than theoretical.

Tongchun Mao, MD

Tongchun Mao, MD (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Services · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Surgical planning · sequencing · facial surgery

Dr. Tongchun Mao is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and leads the assessment and sequencing decision for each patient: what is treated first, what can wait, and what should not be done at all. He is a core specialist formerly at the plastic and aesthetic surgery department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University.

His role in the safety system is to decide what the operating list should contain. Staging work across visits rather than combining it in a single session is a safety decision as much as a clinical one, because it keeps the cumulative risk of a period bounded and makes the effect of each step readable at review.

Clinical focus

  • Structured assessment and staged treatment planning
  • Detailed facial surgery (eyelid, nose, chin, lip), including repair of previous surgery
  • Facial rejuvenation and surgical facial contouring
  • Aesthetic closure principles applied to dermatologic excisions
  • FUE hair transplantation and body contouring
Ke He, MD

Ke He, MD (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Skin & laser aesthetics · the skin-quality foundation

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service at Chongqing West District Hospital. A core specialist formerly at the plastic and aesthetic surgery department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she works on the clinical front line in skin laser and aesthetic dermatology.

Her role in the safety system concerns the condition of the skin that any procedure passes through: barrier function before an operation, and the laser-based scar and pigment aftercare that follows it. She also operates laser and energy devices, which is why the calibration and servicing guidance on this site is practical rather than abstract.

Clinical focus

  • Skin-quality preparation: barrier repair and non-surgical rejuvenation
  • Early scar prevention and repair: silicone, pressure, injection, and laser protocols
  • Pigment conditions, including post-inflammatory pigment
  • Acne and acne scarring; refined treatment of eyelid-margin moles, milia, and syringoma
  • Vascular conditions and full-cycle hair management
Yongbo Jia, MD

Yongbo Jia, MD (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatology · perioperative skin health

Dr. Yongbo Jia is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its dermatology service at Chongqing West District Hospital. A vice chief physician and licensed aesthetic attending, he graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and trained in dermatology at the Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and at Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

His role in the safety system is the medical condition of the skin: identifying before an operation anything that would affect healing, controlling pigment and barrier, and providing the dermatologic care that protects a result afterwards. Good surgery on unhealthy skin heals poorly, and he is the person who says so.

Clinical focus

  • Comprehensive pigment management, including melasma, freckles and sun spots
  • Preoperative skin assessment and postoperative scar and pigment care
  • Hair and scalp conditions, including hair loss and hair transplantation
  • Aesthetic excision of superficial moles, cysts, and haemangiomas; refined cosmetic stitching
  • Repair of appearance-damaging skin conditions

Ask how safety is managed before you commit

We would rather answer a difficult question now than explain a complication later. Tell us the procedure you are considering and we will describe how it is credentialed, how the theatre is run, what is recorded, and what the department does when something does not go as planned — including the honest limits of all of it.
